Rick Osteen and Howard Schatzberg began photographing horses in the 1970's. They embarked on a lifelong career and friendship in the equine photography business when working for June Fallaw. They have successfully partnered on the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show since the mid 1990's. They consider this show to be one of their greatest professional honors.
A second-generation equine photographer, Howie was blessed with the opportunity to learn from one of the pioneers of modern-day show horse photography, his father Jack Schatzberg. Learning the trade from the ground up, Howie has applied his skills and marketing tools to the ever-evolving digital age to become one of the nation’s leading show horse photographers. He lives in Cave Creek, Arizona with wife Megan who also manages the business. He is father to Hailey, Jacqueline, and Joey and grandfather to William.

Rick Osteen
Rick photographed his first
horse show in 1978 and started Rick Osteen Photography in 1982. Since
1978, he has photographed over 1,000 shows, working with most breeds and
disciplines. Along the way, he has been fortunate to work with and
learn from June Fallaw, Jack Schatzberg, Leon Sargent, and Jerry
Sparagowski. His career has given him many amazing experiences and great
memories while taking him not only across the United States but also to
Mexico, England, and Canada. He lives in San Diego with his wife, Joni,
and has two daughters.
